Popsicle Illusion is the pseudonym of animator and visual artist Jonah Nigro. While studying sculpture and new media at Bennington College he began his career during his sophomore year creating animated content for Perrier. Since then he has made billboards and TV spots in collaboration with Miley Cyrus and MTV, directed a music video for Flux Pavilion, and had his work exhibited in galleries and expos in New York City, Paris, and Seattle. He was included in Variety Magazine’s 110 Students to Watch, was featured as a top artist on tumblr’s 2015 Year in Review, and has been profiled and interviewed by publications such as The Washington Post, The Guardian, and Vice.
Jonah’s work explores the relationship between the visual and the visceral. Creating designs and animations that elicit sensation and manipulate emotion. He employs vibrant colors, fluid movement, and a playful sense of humor to explore the themes of surrealism, interaction, sensation, and popsicles.
